Belmont Primary School Kitchen Garden
Hello my fellow Garden Green Thumbs!

I’m the Garden Guru and I have been checking out Belmont Primary School’s Exotic School Garden! The students of B.P.S and their wonderful gardening teacher, Mrs Tero, have been putting so much time and effort into maintaining and keeping the garden beautiful and healthy for our school community to enjoy and admire.

We have been:

  • Weeding and watering

  • Planting and composting

  • Propagating and learning about future foods

  • Moving and relocating garden beds

  • Recycling, upcycling and repurposing materials we have found around the school

  • Investigating and designing DIY planters and vine racks

  • Practicing our gardening safety skills

  • Working as teams and developing our love of gardening

Did you know that Spring is the best season to start growing your plants? If you’re wondering about which plants grow best, here are some scrumptious fruits and vegies that YOU can grow at home!

  • Cucumbers

  • Carrots

  • Tomatoes

  • Broccoli

  • Garlic

  • Potatoes

Here are some gardening tips for you when you are doing some planting at home:

  • Help your pots to stay cool

  • Do hard work when the weather is cool

  • Protect your new plantings as they are more fragile

  • Add nutrients to your water
